Desmond turns 2

We've made a habit over the last two years of just celebrating Desmond's birthday on Memorial Day.  It works because he was actually born on Memorial Day and Wes has it off, so its the perfect time for birthday celebrations with our adorable baby boy.  Today, we had a small little party for him that was just us and we sang, ate ice cream cake, and opened presents from grandparents.  It was a pretty perfect day.  (Other than Scarlett constantly trying to "help" him open his presents and "teach" him how to play with all of his new toys.)

Desmond is usually ready to go with a smile on his face.

He can sometimes throw 3-5 fits a day (I'm just keeping it real!) usually over not getting what he wants when he wants it, but he's also quick to love and fulfill your every desire for hugs and kisses from him.  This picture kills me, btw.  I love it so much.

He loves balloons,

being outdoors,

going fast,

making new friends,

trying new things,

watching t.v.,

forcing his sister to cuddle,

getting attention from his sister,

wearing his sister's shoes, especially her boots,

and mostly being loved (even if it is from a giant mouse!)

Sometimes things are a little too scary even for Desmond and he's thankful that he has his sister to hold his hand during those moments and help him through it.

I am so grateful that this little guy came to us.  We are so blessed to see his smiling face everyday and to hear his little man chuckles!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Desmond!

Desmond & Wes Ride Again!

Grandpa Randall's funeral was just a few weeks after our trip to California.

The boys headed to Utah.

We had a good time.

The second plane was going pretty well until Desmond woke up just as we were descending.  I descended into a dark place as Desmond thrashed and screamed until we reached Terra firma.  Not awesome.

Once we got to Tooele, he had a blast!  He's running off some of that excess energy.

Wheels are a big deal at the Sumner's house.  Desmond's favorite was riding the pink wiggle thing that Cale is on in the background.

Des was pretty excited about his strawberry milk and I'm sure he would have loved the curds but he is apparently on a self-imposed no cheese diet right now.

Who has time to pose Dad!

Desmond did really well for the funeral.  We stopped by Grandma and Grandpa's house on the way out of town.

You can only ask so much of a little Booey Woo and the burial after an hour+ drive was clearly asking too much.

Although it was nothing that hanging with Cale couldn't fix.

Desmond was in good spirits, but for some reason all his games involved laying his little punkin' head on stuff.

Desmond clearly felt at home.  He rooted around in Uncle Kelly and Aunt Debbie's pantry until he found the good stuff.

By the time we hit my sister Nancy's house Des knew the drill.  Get out of the car, find the toys, eat all their food.

Jonathan was a superstar.  He was really sweet to Desmond.

Of course sometimes he was sweet with Sammy's toys :(

Just like any adventure there were some ups and downs, like this one in the airport bathroom.

But the ups were totally worth it!

Desmond finished a long day by dancing with his cousins.

Saturday Fun!

Today, we went to the Children's Museum downtown.  Scarlett and Desmond loved pretending to be Veterinarians.  Scarlett took it VERY seriously and Desmond mostly just really enjoyed cuddling the little stuffed animals.

They've both claimed their sick animal to tend to.

Scarlett looking in the kitty's ears.  I was getting my phone out to take pictures…just in case you were judging *ahem* I mean wondering.

When she was putting on her Vet scrubs, I was explaining to her how important it was that she did a good job on giving the animals a check-up and I was showing her the different utensils to use.  As she was putting on the little "Veterinarian's Assistant" badge and listening to me, she said, "Mommy, I love this so much."  It was pretty much the cutest and sweetest thing ever.

Checking his temperature.  She obviously didn't know where to use a thermometer on a cat and I didn't enlighten her either.
Desmond checking out his dog's hair follicles…while cuddling his dog, of course.

Desmond sticking the ear checker thing in his own ear instead of the dogs.

Scarlett's bunny needed a flea bath.

Its all clean and flea free now!

After that, we split up and I took Desmond up to the Tot area and Wes and Scarlett went off to the engineering invention area, where I'm not sure if Wes or Scarlett had more fun.

They made a parachute and sent it up this wind tunnel.

Scarlett climbed up this two story lily pad area.  You can see her in the pink shirt.

Then we went out and played in the water area where Scarlett, Desmond, and Wes soaked themselves and nearby innocent children.  Wes built this massive tube structure and sent water flying all over the place.

This wave machine was really cool.

The fun didn't stop there!  Our neighbors gave us a bounce house that their kids outgrew.  This is Scarlett not so patiently waiting for Wes to set it up.

They had a good time.
